Today we’ll talk about Madrid, the capital and business center of Spain and a great place to spend your holidays.
Many tourists come to Madrid to see its huge art museums El Prado, Queen SofÃa Museum and the Thyssen. These museums are also known as The Golden Triangle of Art. They are located in the area of Paseo del Prado, an old avenue between the old part of the city and the Retiro Park or if you wanna call it in Spanish it’s El Parque del Buen Retiro. It was built by the orders of Philip IV next to the church of San Jerónimos the Royal It is a very nice park. I go there every time I am in Madrid, it is a very good place to wait for your appointment or just to relax and breathe some fresh air. This park is often called “the lungs of Madrid” because it is basically a forest with ponds and cool features such as the monument of Alfonso XII, Velazquez palace, Crystal palace, casita del pescador and a rose garden La Roselada. Outside of the park, in the independence square you can find la Puerta de Alcalá, which is one of the iconic monuments of Madrid.
To get something to eat, many people recommend going to the San Miguel’s market and try their local tapas. And If you wanna go to a good rooftop terrace you could go to a place called CÃrculo de Bellas Artes, it’s not a super cheap place but the view is definitely worth it. And if you wanna go to a bar the best area is Barrio de La Latina. And Madrid is also a home for the World’s oldest restaurant, Sobrino de BotÃn founded in 1725.
All the football fans come to Madrid to see the Stadium of Santiago Bernabéu, home to Real Madrid FC, to see a game or go to the museum of Real Madrid. The Madrid area is also a home to the football clubs Atletico Madrid, Getafe CF, CD Leganés and Rayo Vallecano.
While you are in Madrid you should also see the cool buildings and squares such as la Plaza Mayor, the Royal Palace and Sabatini Gardens, Plaza de España, the National Library of Spain, Cathedral of la Almudena, Royal House of the Post Office, Cibeles Palace, Caixa Forum and the iconic Metropolis building.
And on the square called La puerta del sol you can find more sites such as a stone marking kilometer 0, the center of the original 6 highways of Spain, a bronze statue of a bear and a Strawberry tree (which is a symbol of Madrid) And the famous clock tower that signals the start of the new year for all the people who watch Spanish TV.
The train station of Madrid Atocha is also a piece of art. The interior part of the older terminal was remodeled and covered with tropical plants, making it a great place for waiting.
The Best place to see the sunset is next to an Egyptian structure called El Templo de Debod in Western Park or El Parque del Oeste. The temple was a gift from Egypt to Spain in 1968 for Spanish help in saving the Nubian temples.
