TENERIFE is a very special and amazing place to visit, discover its fantastic sights as well as to enjoy its golden and black beaches.
The capital of the island, Santa Cruz de Tenerife is a host to the second most popular in the world, Carnaval de Santa Cruz de Tenerife. After the incomparable Brazilian Carnival held in Rio de Janeiro.
One of the sights in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the Parque Marítimo designed by a Spanish architect, César Manrique, whose artworks you can find all around the Canary islands. Near the park you can also find the Auditorio de Tenerife which is a home to the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and an icon of contemporary architecture in the Canary Islands and the Castle of Saint John Baptist also called Castle Black which served as a military fort until 1924. Currently is a military museum.
You should also check out the local market (Cooperativa Mercado Nuestra Señora De África) to see its architecture and try some local food and don't forget about the best bananas in the world :)
If you wanna time travel in a past century and see how people of the islands used to live you should visit towns called San Cristobal (or La Laguna) and La Orotava and visit La Casa de los Balcones.
Tenerife has the highest peak in Spain and the 3d largest volcano in the world called Teide. It is an active volcano at 3718 meters above sea level. Teide is Spain's most important and most visited natural park. The area of the crater is connected to the highway by a cable car. From the top of the climb, you can enjoy amazing views of the area from the viewpoints Mirador de las Narices and Mirador de pico Viejo
Another natural park is Parque Rural de Anaga which is a prehistoric forest (that looks like the Jurassic Park). The Anaga Rural Park is a protected natural space located in the Macizo de Anaga and is the place with the highest amount of endemisms(is the ecological state of a species being native to a single defined geographic location) in Europe
Another park worth visiting is the Drago Park, home for the famous Millennial Dragon Tree which is one of the most important natural, cultural and historical symbols of the Canary Islands. The tree is considered the oldest in the archipelago, measures more than 16 meters high and has a base of about 20 meters in circumference.
