Itinerary:
#1 Plaça de Catalunya - the city center, a 19-century square, a popular meeting point and it’s known for its fountains, statues, and pigeons.
#2 Portal de l'Àngel - a shopping avenue.
#3 Palau de la Música Catalana - built in 1905 and designed in the Catalan modernista style.
#4 "El Petó" - the kiss wall, made out of the 4000 small pictures that depict freedom.
#5 Barcelona Cathedral - established in the 14th century but it had previously served as a Roman temple. Now Barcelona cathedral is also known as the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia named after the city's patron. The Cathedral is also the seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona.
#6 BARCINO letters - Barcino is the name the Romans gave a colony in this area around the end of the 1 BC.
#7 Pont del Bisbe - bridge that links Palau de la Generalitat i La Casa dels Canonges. It was built for the Barcelona International Exposition of 1929.
Underside of the bridge there is a skull pierced with a dagger. Legend says if you make a wish while walking backwards under it and looking directly at the skull then that wish will come true. Another legend says that if the dagger is ever removed from the skull, the city of Barcelona will cease to exist.
#8 Plaça de Sant Jaume - square of the City hall and Catalan Government Palace. Named after king of Aragon, James I the Conqueror.
#9 Picasso museum
#10 Santa Maria del Mar, built around the 14th century, when trade and navigation were thriving in Catalonia.
#11 Plaça del Rei - square of Grand Royal Plaza.
#12 Plaça Reial - square close by La Rambla, and it hosts many restaurants and some of the city's most famous nightclubs. The square's lampposts were designed by the famous Catalan architect Antoni GaudÃ.
#13 La Rambla famous street, on the way you'll see opera house Liceu, La BoquerÃa market, Mosaico Miró.
#14 MACBA - a contemporary art museum and you can always see skaters in this area.
#15 Park Guell - the most famous park in Barcelona. It was named after a wealthy Catalan businessman who wanted to create a luxury village for rich people to live in. His friend Antoni Gaudi designed the park and stayed to reside in one of its homes, which is now a museum. Later, Guell's descendants sold the park to Barcelona City Hall and it became free for the public to visit (now you gotta pay for the ticket to enter).
#16 Passeig de Gracia - the most expensive street in BCN. It’s full of luxury shops and there are also well-known buildings like Casa Milà and Casa Batlló.
#17 Barcelonetta Beach - there is a nice promenade that ends with nightclubs and the casino.
#18 Ciutadella Park - The park held the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition. Now it's a very nice green space with a lake and a huge fountain.
#19 Arc de Triumf - built as the gateway for the exposition site
#20 Estació del Nord - long distance bus station
